Are the winter blues getting you down? There’s nothing like popping in some headphones and getting immersed in a good story to cure you of your wintery woes.

I listen to a lot of podcasts. And by a lot- I mean a lot. Every time I hop in my car, go for a walk, or cook dinner, you can bet I’m tuning into something. I also work in the industry, so when I’m not listening to a podcast, I’m writing about them, or writing scripts… you get it.

My personal favourite genre of podcast is a nice binge-able series. Eight episodes that I can binge over the course of a few days (and sometimes less) is my cup of tea.

So with that- let’s get into the most binge-able podcasts series.

  1. Uncover

Produced by CBC, each season of Uncover features a different true crime story (there are 14 seasons, so lots to choose from). My personal pick: Season One, which chronicles the cult NXIVM .

2. Slow Burn

I love slowburn, I recently fell down the Watergate rabbit hole (nerd alert) , and it was the fix I needed. Each season focuses on a different transformative event in modern American history. My personal pick: Season One, Watergate (shocking).

3. Hunting Warhead

Hunting Warhead is the most disturbing podcast I’ve ever listened to. It follows a hacker who works to take down an online child pornography ring that spills into the real world, and the resulting fallout. There are a lot of TWs associated with this podcast, so please take care.

4. Ultra

Ultra is podcast from Rachel Maddow podcast about the forgotten story of how the American Government was almost overthrown by extremist groups in the 1930/40s. There is a mix of political intrigue, harrowing attacks, and a story that seems a bit too close for comfort.

5. Frozen Head

Frozen Head is a collaboration between the hosts of Morbid and the team at Wondery. If you’ve even wondered about cryonics (freezing human remains after death) this is the podcast for you. It also gives insight into the unexpected repercussions that choice can have on families and communities.
