Business Podcasting: 3 Ways You Can Get Er Done

OK, let’s say you’ve decided that a podcast is in your business future.

There are many powerful reasons why you might make that decision (Content Marketing and Authority-building among them).

How are you going to do it?

There are a handful of ways that have proven successful…

1. Outsource

A good outsourcing team that can provide the quality work you need is made up of people who know podcasting (though there are some hacks out there — be careful).

They will be able to help you on a number of levels.

  • End goal and strategy creation and implementation
  • Education (in case you don’t know diddly about podcasting)
  • Episode to episode audio and show notes optimization/creation
  • Behind-the-scenes work that you don’t really want to be doing yourself

There are many companies that provide these services and more.

Naturally — you could reach out to my company (Podcast Fast Track) and we’d be happy to hear more about what you have in mind.

When you take this option you’ll find yourself saved from the podcast time suck.

You’ll just record your content (interview / coaching call / case study / sales training, etc.) — toss it into online storage of some kind — and they’ll take it from there.

It really IS a “set it and forget it” solution when you work with a seasoned, reliable team.

2. Keep it In-House

There could be many reasons you want to keep your podcast production in-house.

  • Sensitive topics
  • Available staff
  • Quality assurance
  • Whatever…

In that situation you’d enlist your own production team to set up the studio, oversee the recordings, and complete all the back-end production and scheduling of your episodes.

But what if nobody on your team knows how to do that?

You could hire a new team member who does…

Or you could get an interested and capable existing team member trained — by people who DO know how to do all that.

You’d be hiring a consultant who could train your team — via video (over a distance) or in person.

A good consultant should be able to…

  • Help you set up your studio
  • Teach your selected team members how to use it properly
  • Demonstrate/teach best-practices when it comes to workflow and publication
  • Educate your team on the best way to record, host distance-recordings, optimize audio, etc.

When they are done — your team will know what they’re doing and you’ll have your own in-house setup for podcast publication episode after episode.

3. Concierge podcasting

This is by far the most expensive option — but also the most trouble-free for you, the business owner or manager.

Many of the big-name companies that podcast opt for this option because it saves the time of their executives and leaves the dirty work of podcasting to someone who has spent years honing their skills.

Less goes wrong and you get a professional sound.

Here is how it works:

  • You find a company that has experience in podcasting whose ethic and quality you trust to represent your brand. — Here is one option. — Here’s another.
  • Contract with that company to take care of everything — and I mean everything.
  • They will set up the recording sessions with you and guests.
  • They will handle all the technical stuff — sound checks, equipment, recording, etc.
  • At the scheduled time, you show up. Your guest shows up.
  • The company you’ve hired will have a professional who walks you through the session, gets the recording started, lets you have a great conversation, and then lets you and your guest go back to the important stuff you do.
  • The next thing you know — that interview/conversation publishes on your podcast feed.

It couldn’t get any easier.

I’ve recorded a video walking through these options in a more casual way if you’re interested…

I’d love to answer any questions you may have about these options. Each has its own benefits and its own hurdles to overcome.

Choose the one that works best for you.
