Have you been watching the World Cup? We certainly have been, and we can’t get enough. Don’t let the game stop when the ref blows the whistle. Keep up with all the action both on and off the field now and after the World Cup with these podcasts.

The Totally Football Show with James Richardson

James Richardson “AC Jimbo” became a well known figure in the football (or soccer) industry in the 1990s by bringing Italian Football into the UK through his role on Channel 4.

He started his podcast last August and has continued on a regular basis. Richardson typically puts out a new episode twice a week. He is frequently joined by guests just to “sit around and talk about football.”

Currently, for the World Cup, Richardson is putting out a daily episode recapping each match day and covering everything taking place in Russia both on and off the pitch.

The Totally Football Show is a production of Muddy Knees Media, which launched in 2017. MKM is all about Football, check out their all of their shows: The Totally Football Show, The Totally Football League Show, Golazzo: The Totally Italian Football Show and Football Manager Files.

The Football Ramble

The Football Ramble, based out of London, was started at the end of 2007 and has gained status as a popular and “refreshing” voice on the football scene in the years since it launched.

The show is hosted by a foursome: Marcus Speller, Jim Campbell, Luke Moore and Pete Donaldson. The team has done sold-out live shows and has also broadcast directly from tournaments. They also have released a best-selling book.

Typically, the team puts out episodes twice weekly. During the World Cup, though, they have been producing an episode the day after every match. Here are the episode dates: June 13th, 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th, 28th and 29th. July: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 7th, 8th, 11th, 12th and 16th. Catch up on episodes missed or tune in to the episodes coming to get their takes on all the action at the World Cup! Each World Cup episode is also paired with video content.

The Football Ramble is one of seven podcasts that are a part of the Radio Stakhanov network. On the Continent, a weekly podcast focused on European football, is also a member of the network.

Men in Blazers

Men in Blazers is hosted by Roger Bennett and Michael Davies. It is also a TV Show hosted on NBC Sports.

Based out of NYC, the show is “driven by the belief” that soccer is “America’s Sport of the Future” and that it has been since 1972. In addition to their podcast, they have also written a book, Encyclopedia Blazertannica.

Before the World Cup began, they released “Rog & Davo’s Guide to Russia”, a “series of previews” to celebrate what they believed would play out at the World Cup this year. They also have been releasing contemporary content about the World Cup on a regular basis since its start.

“Rog” also created a 12-part series with WNYC Studios on American soccer’s rise and fall between 1994 and 1998: American Fiasco, “The true story of how not to win the World Cup.”

Game of Our Lives

Produced by Jetty, Game of Our Lives is hosted by David Goldblatt with Tony Karon and Raja Shah.

Goldblatt believes that one cannot understand the modern world without understanding football. His passion for football began when he was growing up. He had a love for the game. He played as a kid, though he was better suited for rugby. His focus on football continued through adulthood.

Now, during the World Cup, Goldblatt has been taking a deeper look at some of the biggest moments in World Cup history. In one of his most recent episodes, “What if…?”, he takes a look back at the 1970 World Cup, which could have changed the course of history. In addition to looking at historical moments as he did in that episode, he has also directed his vision towards the future and what the political implications may be “politics-and-football showdown between two ‘masters of the dark arts’ — Sergio Ramos and Vladimir Putin.”

Goldblatt says that “football is a fabulously complex social, cultural and political phenomenon” and proves it to be exactly that through his podcast.

The World Cup brings the globe together. Plug in your headphones and find a connection to other fans with football culture, comedy, criticism and more. Happy listening!
