Gruden is the 2nd Highest Paid Coach in the NFL…Are You Kidding Me?

  1. Coach and GM Bill Belichick — $12.5 million per year
  2. Jon Gruden — $10 million per year
  3. Pete Carroll — $8 million per year

I might be a minimalist, but I have zero problem with money, making money, or paying for talent. I am a capitalist. And as a capitalist, I think capital should naturally flow to its best use. Despite what I think about her post-Election performances, it makes sense to pay Reese Witherspoon based on her production. It makes sense that Jeff Bezos is now the wealthiest person in the universe because the universe runs on Amazon. It makes sense that Belichick, Popovich, and Maddon get paid crazy sums of money.

Jon Gruden (.540) has a lower winning percentage than Jason Garrett (.558). Would I take Gruden over Garrett? Absolutely. Look no further than the LA Rams to see what happens to a team when you get the problem (Fisher, Garrett) out of the way.

But would I pay Belichick money for Gruden?

No. Never…Never…Never. No. No. Never. No.
