It’s been a tough call when to open up GetPodzilla.com for people to see without a password.

There’s two competing arguments (at least):

  • No publicity is bad publicity.
  • You never get a second chance to make a first impression.

Annoying, isn’t it, when smart-sounding advice points in opposite directions?

For the past couple months, we’ve figured there’s no harm in keeping Podzilla flying under the radar. The world has been busy enough without flooding it with early warnings about another podcast-player app — even if it is the coolest podcast-player app anyone’s ever heard of. (Okay, we’re biased.)

2020 has already buffeted us with a pandemic virus, worldwide protests, rioting cops, massive unemployment and wobbly financial markets…and even a couple volcanoes that have barely made the front page.

So Podzilla — like its namesake that chilled on the oceanic floor off the coast of Japan, biding its time — has spent the first half of 2020 pulling itself up by its bootstraps, getting all our cats in a herd.

But now, it’s time to start transitioning into the No Publicity Is Bad Publicity phase.

We’re not quite ready to let loose on the Kickstarter campaign yet, or launch the podcast (both of these will happen at the same time)… But we’re sending out enough communications outside our immediate besties that having a password on the website no longer makes sense.

So today — by the time you read this — you’re invited to head over to https://GetPodzilla.com and be among our first visitors.

It’s a little like showing up to the pre-party party. We’ll still be hanging the streamers and spiking the punch. But hey, sometimes it’s cool to hang out with the hosts before the party gets rocking.
