A winding path under a canopy of green
Devours us. Our shoes leave their tread behind
As our hands gently brush and find
Each other in a tangle, unseen.

The swaying trees reveal a patch of clean
Sky where clouds dance and bind
To each other as natural as your hands, in kind,
Explore my frame as impatient as nineteen.

You stop and pull away ahead of me.
I can’t wipe that stupid smile off my face,
And your eyes conquer mine with a grace
I’ve not found in anything but… w—
