Three years ago we started,
This marathon crusade.
You promised to only teach me
About my passions along the way.
You said, the best I’ll give you is the insight to his brain,
To her thoughts and memories and the way she felt that pain.
Instead I learn’t what words are worth,
And it’s more than what you’re feeling.
You took the tree and made it speak but cast away its meaning.
Three years in, I’ll get the skin
And leave you with your reading -

I’ve got mine and I’m sure to find, that one true happy ending
