Poems For Insomnia

--

You looked at me intently as I stuffed my suitcase full
You hesitated and shook your head, not knowing that I knew
You drew the courage and spoke to me;
‘I’m scared you won’t come back’
I took you in, held you and built the strength I lacked
I leaned to you, remembering you, the life we thought we had
I whispered truthfully, regretfully
‘I’m just as scared I will’
