Poems from my Past — A collection of poems written in the 1990s

Ripples and Waves

Of depression and recovery.

--

This poem is the second in a new collection. I am publishing poems that I wrote in my early twenties when I was struggling to find my identity and learning to live with clinical depression.

Pastel painting by Author.

Ripples and Waves

.

I sit in the corner

Knees pulled in tight

There’s nothing inside me

Nothing but night

.

I hear it coming

I know it’s near

There’s a scream inside me

Trapped in my fear

There is a force

Ripples and waves

It’s always been there

It kills and it saves

.

I’ve known it so long

It’s all that I know

I could escape from the corner

But I just can’t let go

I sit in the corner

Knees pulled in tight
