To honor the loved ones we have lost

With my paternal grandmother in 2008 (Photo by Author)

In times of grief
When words cannot console
The atmosphere suffocating
No respite from dole

Inner strength
Not from human hands but above
Provides solace, closure
A dwelling of love

A chapter translated
The legacy of souls past
Impervious to the individual
Glorifies the First and the Last

The living mourn
Their dead to the earth
The cycle recommences
Of death and rebirth

Eulogies recited
Memories recounted
Blessings bestowed
Eternity amounted
