Growth

You think you need acceptance,

to feel valid.

You aspire to improve,

your outer shell.

Even when you think the

inside – is what matters.

You’re convinced you need someone else

- to be yourself.

But worst of all

You believe you are the dirt

beneath the blossoming flowers.

When- if only you could see,

Girl with growth

you are the most delicate creation of beauty

ever to sprout from the grounds.

You are one among tens, of hundreds of thousands

of people, young, old, pure people who can’t see their own

beauty- and it hurts me

To know that even in this room there is potential

And for some reason we claim it confidential,

To hide the most essential qualities of ourselves

In the dark

Beauty is seen as one defined physical existence

To this? We can form a resistance

Because you know, I know — it is a gathering of qualities

A whole range of philosophies

No one can define your beauty.

You are that flower among so many others

Whose petals frail to the ground instead of beaming to the sun

I urge you — find where you spirit begun

And hold

Because you are more than a pretty face, a pretty array of petals

You are a garden overwhelming itself with

Intelligence, kindness, bravery, acceptance, and spirit

Don’t you dare ever fear it.
