A few months ago, we released the overview of our latest milestone, detailing the next steps Po.et would be taking toward our mission of building the verifiable web. Today, we are excited to announce the addition of our most requested feature: the ability to make claims about audio, video, and image files. This includes .pdf, .jpeg, .mp4, .docx and literally any other binary file type.

Uploading binary files is the first premium feature available on the Works Explorer and will require users to verify a minimum balance in their POE wallet. You will need to sign a message from your wallet proving your address and ownership of at least 1000 POE, which can be done with Metamask or a hardware wallet via MyEtherWallet.com.

These additional features don’t require payment in POE for now, as the Po.et Foundation currently subsidizes all storage costs for content stamped through our API. For this reason, we are currently only offering support for small files. Requiring a minimum balance acts as a preventative measure for spam to help us ensure we’re scaling safely. We are looking into other paid options as we continue to expand functionality and storage capabilities.

In the meantime, if you are looking to get rid of the current limitations, you have the option of running your own node. This feature has been available at the protocol level since November. However, we’ve made significant updates to the Works Explorer UI and API to improve the user experience. You can learn more about running your own node here.

We’re so excited about the progress the team has made and we’re really excited for our community to start exploring these new features. Be on the look out for standalone documentation on this feature in the coming days, complete with a step by step walkthrough of how to connect your wallet.
