The Campaign Has Already Begun
In April, we removed the dates on our forward-looking feature road map to adopt a standard practice for agile teams. This caused quite a stir, as many were looking at that road map as a milestone indicator for success. However, there was one major milestone missing that is the most critical to Po.et’s success; moving to mainnet.
Removing the dates was done with speed and flexibility in mind in order to respond to the best needs and focus for Po.et. This proved to be true, as we reprioritized our energy and resources toward what was going to make Po.et valuable to every user in the world. Today, I’m excited to announce that our road to mainnet campaign has begun.
What does that mean?
Moving to mainnet means we’re migrating from the Bitcoin Testnet to the Bitcoin Mainnet. As Eric explained in his post last week (https://blog.po.et/june-2018-po-et-engineering-progress-report-522b78e491fc), the primary components are claim batching, bug bashing, security auditing, automating workflows, documentation and widespread protocol accessibility.
OK great, but what about the road map features?
Mainnet unlocks everything. Once we get to mainnet we’ll be in a much better position to accomplish more of our goals. This means license transactions, marketplace, partnerships, builders, everything. EVERYTHING!
It’s very easy during this time to get distracted. That is something we refuse to let happen at Po.et. Any conversation outside of our development milestones is just a distraction to the end goal of having Po.et used, valued and adopted by all creators around the world. We are committed to moving toward more releases more quickly to introduce the next phase of internet value through attribution, discovery and reputation.
Over the next few weeks and months, we will be sharing content, documentation, releases and announcements around the road to mainnet. We will be transparent throughout, giving looks and glimpses into new designs, features, strategies and everything that comes with bringing Po.et to a massive scale.
