Better Left Unsaid

Wouldn’t it be better,

if you left it unsaid,

than to say the word,

that causes them dread.

What is there,

for you to gain?

If you utter words,

that brings them pain.

Do not say,

what jumps in your head,

you can’t take back,

the things you’ve said.

Do not speak the words,

you may think of at first,

those are the words,

that are often the worst.

Screen your thoughts,

before you speak

then you’ll receive,

the peace that you seek.
