We consider water, waves, and wellness in Texas and Newark.

“And thats when I learned,
not all water is coordinated.”
Z told me, as she recounted placid
lakes in New York State.
Texans pray the waves turn
from red to blue as a chorus
of congress retires, and that’s when I learned
not all waters are for the body.
Some are toxic to touch, Newark bleeds
from the faucet. Better to stomach
a little ache, when the medicine
causes cancer.
