Swimming

Dreaming of summer.

Spring seems an enigma
The fast blast of winter snow
here in the land down under
Our iced Antarctic blow.

And as I dream of summer.
the oceans on my mind
I make the best and invest.
In any warmth that I can find.

It seems the grass is greener.
there on the other side
for my friends in the US and Europe
On their last summer ride.

Though my dream is of steam
and budding summertime
and to reach for the beach
To soak up some sunshine.

Swimming is second nature.
I learned this when very small.
and later was a lifesaver
I beckon to the call.

Gliding through the water
in embryonic suspension
the sheer freedom of floating
In a different dimension.

I feel like I am flying.
supported by immersion
the sensuous sea upon my skin
The ultimate sensation.

Swimming with the dolphins,
their darting fins and tails
shake off shards of rainbows
They were joined by migrating whales.

The seabirds dip and dive
in the Bay on silver seas
the wheel above the ocean
Then drift across the breeze.

I share the habitat of fishes.
those who live beneath the waves
swim in perfect symmetry
And hide in Neptune’s caves.

Swimming’s my elixir.
right back from the beginning
in the Bay, where I stay
I dream of summer swimming.
