The Love of Animals

In a ball of fur

Photograph of baby “Asha” thanks to Shelley Cusiter.

Pure captivation
In a ball of fur
Instant rapport
Will instantly occur
When you see the puppy
With the soulful eyes
Cast unto the seven winds
The need to be wise.

Once hooked
It is forever
A friend
You’ll have for life.
A completely
New endeavour
Before a husband
Or a wife.

They never
Answer back
And most often are
Easily disciplined
Whether brindle
Brown or black.

The contracts
Difficult to rescind
Choose your
Doggy carefully
Some turn out
Recalcitrant
And mysteriously
Can irreversibly
Become part of
The establishment.

Whilst
I’m away
There’s little
To say
In a jingle or a rhyme
Than to wish you the very best
As you invest
With your new
Partner in crime.

Asha is a smasher
A joy when she was small
A smile on her face
for the human race
And that’s not all
Now that she is older
She will still respond
To my loving call
Sometimes!!!

Thank you, Lynette, for the video.
