The Wax and Wane

The mystery of the moon

The wax and wane can still contain,
The mystery of the moon,
The steeds it rides rule the tides,
And it is apt to make us swoon

It ebbs and flows, and no one knows,
Our span of life and when,
Emit a sigh, lay down, and die,
The knowledge we don't ken.

Lax and loose or sprite and spruce,
Facades are everywhere,
Monuments and knick-knacks,
Or them that do not care.

Some may smile for a while,
A smirk will never last,
Changing like the seasons,
Life goes by so fast.

One day it is headline news,
Then after when it's gone,
Another day mist and rain,
Before the sun has shone.

The wax and wane and refrain,
Descends from highs to lows,
And then it dips and disappears,
Where to nobody knows.

I watched the sea then very soon,
It dipped past the abyss,
Into the tidal temperament
as she watched the moon's eclipse

On a wave, I try to save,
A moment and stand still,
And yet the tide maintains her stride,
Forever and until.
