reaction

i’m having a reaction
a reaction to you
my breath stops short in my throat
refusing to let out any thought of you
or in anything that isn’t
my chest is light and tingles 
a thousand needle pricks
despite the blood i could float on air
the hair on my arms and neck
stands on end
electricity these currents 
running under my skin
drawing out toward you
sparking from my fingers and eyes
which have grown wide to take you in
like staring at the sun
blinded as your light overwhelms me
