Smiling at the Moon

I want to love you like the dead poets loved.

To dance with you like a river through a valley,
making my way through your topography,
meandering through your curves.

I want to get caught in a storm with you,
to better understand the way lightning strikes.

Let’s sway together on the breeze,
like the palms at dusk,
and let me bury myself in you,
like the setting Sun on the sandy dunes.

Tonight I’ll climb into the night and steal
the secret of the stars for you,
and after, we can lay here,
and smile back at the moon
as we drift with its pull.
