A Petal’s Glory

Lasts a day

Each petal has a moment in its flower.
In less than a day it withers.

Shall I mourn its remembered fragrance and abundant allure?
Sometimes, it feels that way.

Gentle flowers on slender stems
withstand hail, drought, torrents, and frozen climes
Better than mammals of any kind.
