“who do they say I am?”
teacher, preacher, healer, prophet
rabbi, zealot, John the Baptist,

“who do they say i am?”
a good man, a dangerous man,
a wise man, a heretical man

“who do they say i am?”
trouble maker, rabble rouser,
blasphemer, agitator

“who do they say i am?”
a myth, a legend, a man from the past
a fool, a faker, a historical artefact

but i’ve seen him still the storms
and multiply bread
he’s healed the blind
and he’s raised the dead
he teaches with power
challenges hearts and heads
and so they say he’s this. and they say he’s that.
but all of us must face him, when he eventually asks.

“who do YOU say I am?”
You are Christ, the Son of the Living God.

Matthew 16:13–20

When I read Peter’s exchange with Christ about who people say Jesus is, I think that the same question applies today. People all have opinions on who Jesus is, but I wonder about the day when Jesus asks us who he is. You can have opinions about it, but at some point we’ll see the truth face to face.
