In a Corner of Apparent Insignificance

Somewhere, in a little corner
of apparent insignificance
I found some honey, way down
at the very bottom of an old jar

it reminded me of the often hidden
generosity in small events that
pop into one’s life unexpectedly -
revealing a secret serendipity

the result of some cosmic chain
of cause-and-effect, set in motion
by a Source of trustworthy origin
signalling a whole other universe

exists just a hair’s breadth away …

… missed many times, but not today.
I wasn’t sure if the messenger
was still quietly hanging around
to monitor my surprise when

discovering the sacred gift but
I like to think the intensity of connection
reverberating in my heart-response
would have travelled across the ether

to let them know I had “opened it”, probably
whilst they were busy gifting another
in like manner. And so it goes on
ten thousand times ten thousand

springing hope eternal in many hearts …
and these joined-up experiences
speak of one crucial truth -
we are not apart.
