A Moment

You wouldn’t believe
the verse I wrote in my mind.
Just now —
that you wouldn’t believe,
that I didn’t believe.
That I can’t now remember.
Do you?

It touched eternity.
You saw it. Didn’t you?
Love’s truest form, what was it?
Do you recall what I said?
What I said — what it was?

Oh, neither do I.
But you heard it.
So did I.
But for a moment.
