Mass Alone

Prayer is always inquiry
even more-so now
the masses scattered here
but gathered in heavenly limbs.

The sorry billows ever softly
gently with a silent response
‘The Lord be with you’
ringing on vacant walls.

An unexpected echo not my own
carried to the throne
throngs abound, ‘Holy, Holy, Holy’
deafen the earthly silence.

With mystical chorus
our metaphysic warmed
swooned by the Marriage Supper
hallowed, hollow, whole.
