What was that flash
of love,
that gash
above.

You and I that ripped,
into us —
both Into us
heaven through us.

What a maddening thing.
The mysteries it courts!
And is! Still is,
a maddening thing.

What a hopeful hunt have we
along this tedious path,
an ever wandering path,
chasing a quiet, devastating fire.
