What Thursday Was For

Do you know what I have done to you?

Will we ever know?
Can we ever know?
Are we capable of knowing?

It is an unfair giving.
It always was, still is, and will be.
He takes the lower place
on an upside-down throne.

Bring on that deluge
of a self-emptying rock,
spilling forth a grief of love
upon our cracked feet.

We cannot contain it.
It is too wonderful for me.
This eternal Thursday.
And it was only Thursday.
