Vegan Easter Poem
A vole nibbled on the collar of a dead corgi,
feet vertical on the greens of a retirement home.
He saw clouded shades of silver
with the tags between his eyes and nose,
like a kid lost in a View-Master by Fisher-Price.
The matted dog was acquired
through a rescue service that ran ads like,
“Someone tied me to the dumpster as if I were trash,”
(as if the dog typed out the thing herself).
A no-harm trap layered in glue
nabbed the vole, so he ended up being relocated
to an old plantation home
where they dyed plastic eggs for vegan Easter.
