Good day to all you wonderful writers out there! Are you up for a poetic form challenge? I have decided to do a monthly challenge for any and all to join in on. What better way to build some camaraderie and have a little fun with our words?
For August I decided to go with the poetic form of Rubaiyat. One of my favorite poets Robert Frost mastered this form in my eyes. Most famously with his poem Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening. A link explaining the format and how to successfully write this is as follows: Rubaiyat Form
Please tag your friends and join along in celebrating this wonderful poet of our past. Celebrate through sharing his form with your own version of poetic words. Thank you in advance to all my friends out there! Thank you especially to the many contributors of PoetryPlace. You are all such a wonderful inspiration to the masses! I would love to see what Samantha Lazar H. R. Parker Jessica Niziolek Anisesh Shringi Kumari Harper Thorpe Elizabeth Keyes Leah J.🕊 can come with for this challenge. Thanks in advance for those who choose to participate! Please tag Rubaiyat in your piece and have fun with it! Until the pen dries…I bid you adieu!
Waves of current, crashing sea
The caps pearl white, look back at me.
Aghast at how, my life has aged
Youth now lost, when oceans agree
Toes beneath, the warming sand
The wind plus scent, now holding hands.
Back then forth, the tide reminds
Of peaks with valleys, world demands
Shadow of, my former self
As if the sea, could part itself
Thus the ships, off in the distance
Soon will come, like books to shelf
Where is my place? Upon the day
Will they remember? Locked away
For if I kneel, upon you mercy
Will you shield, our lonely ways
