A Vision

Prompt: Darkness

In the moon’s shadow

Darkness descends in vision
Starry night held hands

Whispering ancient secrets
Walking paths of forgotten.

Tanka poems are a traditional form of Japanese poetry consisting of five lines with a syllabic pattern of 5-7-5-7-7. They often explore themes of nature, seasons, love, and emotions, capturing a moment or feeling with vivid imagery and deep sentiment. The form allows for a concise yet expressive way to convey a complete thought or scene.

This is my first time attempting this form of poetry. I found it a little challenging, especially counting the syllables.

Thanks to all who stop by and read my poem, it is greatly appreciated. Please remember that Poetry Playground is the place where great poems can be found.
