Elsewhere — Between Despair and Hope
Nihilism?
C.S. Lewis spoke a truth so clear
Of longings tied to worlds not here
The Earth beneath my feet feels cold
No matter how I try to blend
This sense of alienation won’t end
It seemed like the world and I
Were using different frequencies
The world I saw was broken
Marred by poverty, tyranny, and betrayal
Where empty echoes are the sound
Of promises that never came
Hope is just another name
And dreams that falter in the light
I wander, lost, in endless night
Still, something stirs within my chest
It drives me toward a distant shore
Where brokenness can be no more
If these visions are a lie
Then let me hope until I die
Life is full of surprises, they said
Everything has its seasons, too
And trust that time will fill the need
Still, something stirs — it stirs me more
