Like the two sides of a picture
A mother has both love, & fury cinders
She’d a hell lot of patience
Though you insisted on seeing her wrath

Cutting down the trees, concrete jungles taking over the greens
Fumes from factories, chimneys & vehicles choked every being
Couldn’t be borne anymore, anger got unleashed- it became the fire; the heat

The blazing sun, the burning earth, the unbearable temperatures
Homecoming this vacation, sucks you in a furnace
As saline fluid trickles down your back, clothes drenched yet the throats parched; lips dried
Thirst unquenched, not a drop of solace!

Drumming, blaring non stop ACs
Earlier a luxury, now a need- the way mercury soars
Poor man feebly toils on the road
Laying rules of planting trees, rain water harvesting, eco-friendly coolers, climate change, global warming get discussed in the chilled cabinets.
Er, too little too late!
This is all that can be done!?
Earnest goddess rules, as the prayers to the rain gods fail
Drizzle at least, if no downpour…

O mother! put out this fire & let the cool breeze takeover…

Every year the summers are getting harsher everywhere. I took this opportunity to write about it through a “weather” prompt. Thank you Jonny and Poetry Playground. I have attempted acrostic form.

The first letters combine to read — “LAST CFC THAT DEPLETED O3 (ozone)”

Ironically, CFC (Chlorofluorocarbon) an essential component of air conditioners depletes the protective ozone layer, causing further sun’s UV rays to penetrate through & hit the earth.
