In Life’s Little Stumbles, You Keep Going
A Poem

On the roar of performance day,
I caught butterflies along the way.
Kidnapped by the lights of the stage,
trapped like a lion in a cage.
No one knows how I stumbled,
Or how my brain slowly fumbled.
My ballerina twirl was all wrong,
It just wasn’t that twister strong.
I did it so much better before,
This time I won’t get an encore!
I’m being so hard on myself,
I can’t keep my internal criticism on the shelf.
Mom said I did just fine,
“You”ll do even better next time.”
The Tutu girls
Like little ducks in a row
Twirling toward Heaven
