Poem: At the Circus

In this photo,
the two of us
pose with
boredom domesticated,
passion tamed at our feet,
whiplash control of our moods,
our love ready
for the circus ring.

But now,
boredom died in its cage,
passion rebelled in the bedroom,
moods run wild.
The show is canceled.
Our messy love,
unleashed,
is for all to see.
