Averno

Canto III

Averno, spare us
Heaven desecralised
Devoid of gods
Through thee a new legend shall be born
Thus
Do not let us
Place complete trust in hope
For we are fed up with moving forward
Allow us to live in the present instead
No longer sculpted by the artistry of time
Asterion, the fallen demigod
And Arthur, the restless whore

Asterion, wake up!
Asterion squinted her eyes at the stillness around
It was milk-white since it reflected all wavelengths of light
Discontent tore out of our belly buttons
In the shape of an umbilical cord
And connected to a womb resembling a motherboard
The lightness of the body — for it was suspended in the air
belied a burden in the mind
Something was moving quietly
Something we used to call Time
This digital heaven is cold, inhumane
Pixelated wings grow out of our backs
And we come alive only if someone scrolls down the page
Arthur, what the hell is happening?
