Defining Personality: Who Are You?

A poem by Moony Thinker

A woman is reaching into a cupboard searching for something we can’t see. She is smoking a cigarette, wearing lacy black clothing upon few other articles of clothing. The left side of her head is buzzed while the rest is very long.

Based on the research
By our educated
Mind Priests,
Identity is split between
Two camps.

Those are:

Each decision made
Wrapped in sheets of:
Communal judgments,
Rules, and expectations
Provided by one’s society;
That’s who you are.

While the other camp reasons
It’s all predetermined
By one’s DNA:
Explosive, addictive,
Mentally unstable…
This is who you are.

But —
A few refuse
To accept either camp’s

Rebels, Outcasts,
And Strangers are
Living their own way,
Their own truths;
Living to be rather than
Living as they are told to be.

However —
Most won’t refuse;
Accepting either camp’s

Conformist, Centralist,
And Friends will trade-in
Their truth of self
For a life of expectation;
Living as directed
Rather than living freely.

While the few explore,
Living without a map;
The many will wait,
For a map never given.

There they will stand,
Waiting until the end;
Wondering when life begins
But never does;
It was never instructed
To begin.
Wasted until the end.

But the few, those
Rebels, Outcasts,
And Stranges will
Explore the vastness of
This world and themselves;
Never waiting
To be

Living this life is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

No matter how much we resist, there is an end for each of us. Many will live by the restrictions of their social group but a few bohemians will really live. These outcasts will not allow society’s Minders to decide who they are and how they will live.

Again, you only get this life once; so, do not live your life in the boundaries given to you; they are false walls.

Remember, you don’t get a second chance.

Be well, my friends.

Hey my friends!

I am starting another art project. This one is focusing on artists of all kinds where I interview them. I plan to make a series of these interviews and to call them collectively Dreaming While Awake. The point of these interviews is to better understand the artist’s focus, discipline methods, hopes, dreams, projects, and what they are moving towards.

For those interested, please reach out to me through one of my various connections shared in my LinkTree down below!

A eight panel, lift up, rectangular wide but square shaped window glowing with incoming light into a darker space impeding seeing outside from the distance the picture is taken. The walls are scrapped and peeling of paint and wall sections; with the left side we are facing exposed brick.

A neon, tube lettering sign which reads “Say it louder”
An individual staring above at the cascading experience of multiple colors with the scraping of the edge wing of the Milky Way Galaxy slicing through the middle

A collection of natural images such as the ground of a forest, desert extending higher through the natural layers of our existence (moving through the trees, to the mountains, sky, then stars) showing our place in this reality of current.
A collage with different pieces added focusing on the discipline of a person and why discipline is the importance to achieving anything great.
