Masks Weren’t Mandated

Poem on mask-based social tension

Photo by Mark König on Unsplash

Post office lobby,
I’m unmasked and getting my mail.
Clean bright day,
light reflecting off floor tiles,
colleague says my name.

She’s masked;
I’m not.
We chat about writing;
I ask about publishing;
She shares her thoughts.
