After thinking for an age, I finally gathered the courage to let the paint on my palette wash off under the tap.

Seeing the colours finally losing their hold was such a relief to my heart. The paint washed off easily, leaving my palette clear like the open sky, ‘radiant and limitless’.

There was something that made me preserve that confused colour on my palette. I carefully selected the colours for my palette, envisioning the beautiful painting I would create with them. I was emotionally attached to it. That painting existed solely in my mind, waiting to be brought to life on the canvas by my hands. I was striving for perfection in every brushstroke, as I aimed to create a scenic masterpiece.

Alas! I was mistaken. I failed to realise that the perfect piece would come to the surface after numerous attempts. What happened to my palette was quite miserable.

The bright colours I initially took started mixing up. Maybe I had too little space on my palette, or I was a little stubborn with what I wanted. My attachment to colour was a problem. Washing them off was not even an option for me. I kept adding more colour and yet used the same old palette which already had a lot of unyielding colours.

The unused colour on the palette was the biggest disappointment. Over time, the once bright colours lost their radiance…
