Metal-detecting — my true love found for me
On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love found for me:
Twelve pull-tabs shining
Eleven drink caps — boring!
Ten nails a-rusting
Nine fish hooks lurking
Eight bright things winking
Seven batteries leaking
Six coins a-shining
Five GOLDEN RINGS!
Four bits of foil
Three bobby pins
Two pegs for tents
And a swimmer who claimed the jewellery!
My husband has always been keen on metal detecting.
There were some times that were rewarding, like finding lost jewellery for people who had mislaid it on the beach, and the odd wallet or two that contained identification, making it easy to return the finds to their owners.
DSM was overjoyed when one-dollar, and two-dollar coins were introduced into Australia. Good finds became more frequent.
Nowadays, with the advent of cards and contactless payments, the bounty has markedly reduced!
Thanks for the fun prompt: Susan Alison
