Damsels & Dames
Just a thin curtain, between-
Damsels and dames;
Beauty, chastity, proud and precious;
Some of the few trademarks from society,
Labeled since the dawn of humanity;
Betrayed, cursed, seduced and sinned;
Fall of men,
designed by them very hands.
On the pillars of their own disbelief;
Hypocrisy, autocracy, power and greed;
Ends and begins with the same tone,
To pierce the curtain with two stones;
Righteous for those who did not know,
Played innocent;
Victory for those who did not care,
Played ahead;
Pity for those who are truly innocent,
Played with fake harmlessness.
What do you mean by fake?
What do you mean by chaste?
Sometimes, it’s just an idea to keep us sane.
Sometimes, the truth deep down is hardly the same.
