Blood gushing down the veins. Stabbed brutally through the heart. Gaping at the “friend”, as he descended down slowly for the first (and the last) time. Inhaled the treachery in the lush greenery around.

A few breaths remained. Could sense that overwhelming covetousness. Still prayed to the Gory God to be merciful upon the renegade. Drenched in Blood he felt nothing in all its nothingness. Nothing or Nobody could have killed him. Still gawking at him, now closed the eyes in tranquillity. He succumbed to the perfidy of the “friend”.

Loved him like a brother. Cared and Worried for him like a father. Could have sacrificed himself for his sake. And all he got at the end of the road was the betrayal of trust served abruptly well with the swings and scars from his dagger. But he couldn’t have imagined for a more treacherous yet beautiful and perfect death. Treacherous as it was him. Beautiful and Impeccable as it was him.

Would have wished for the convergence of their brooks. But fate had different plans. Their streams diverged to only converge at the end where it all started, for their friendship and now his death.

It was the betrayal of the millennium. The fraternizer’s hands filled with his friend’s blood. The blood of his best friend, whom he had always thought as his own. But now he stood there looking down at his dearest friend, as a few drops rolled down his eyes to his cheeks as he remembered their once invincible bond.

He himself was the sole reason for this heinous act. How could he ever live with himself like this after what he did? How could the Gods forgive him? How could he forgive himself? He mused, a soul always has to pay for its sins. But as he was clenching on to his dagger to kill himself to end this circle of life, he was reminded of what his companion used to say.

We all are guilty of some sins in our lives consciously or subconsciously. And however powerful we get, we cannot change those. But what we can do is change ourselves, change our mindsets. And open our eyes to a new sunshine everyday. We cannot ponder and regret our past, we cannot worry about the future, we can just live the present. Mistakes are inevitable, and this is what makes us human. We have to face the repercussions and accept what we did. And moving forward in life does not wait for anyone. You have to find reasons to make your life worthwhile.

With tears pouring down his cheeks, he turned around and left for a quest. A quest to find himself.
