The stars teach me patience —
persistence, as they wheel so casually,
so numberless in their void, tucked into
all the skies of my impatient life. They watch
like trees, like rocks, like mountains as
my body transforms under time’s relentless unfolding
as children of my body begin their own breathing
a mere moment in the fathoms-deep longing,
the eons-long language cycling, spoken in light.
