POETRY PROMPT: DAY 6/30
My unconscious mind is
home
to a child;
my ego is its overprotective guardian.
Shacked up for life, the two bicker, often,
about image, as-well presentation
One is reckless,
and bold
—the other, conservative, SAFE
From clothes, to long-term investments,
no choice, or idea, is too trivial, or grand
for the passionate pair. Over many rotations
and reruns, they have
learned, for the most part,
to communicate and coexist . . .
still,
the unscripted sitcom
has its moments
Though, the troublesome two
butt
figurative heads all night and morn’,
most critics—I’m sure, would agree,
it truly is never a dull show with my
straight-edge ego, and
the stubborn little rascal
living in my unconscious mind
