You fooled them all,
With your clever act.
In fancy cloths,
But hiding a beggar’s fact.

You brag and boast,
In a show so grand,
A master of pretending,
They can’t understand.

You’re all about yourself,
No one else in your view.
We’ve sent it all before,
It’s nothing new,

Wake me up when it’s done,
This never ending game.
When the final curtain fall,
And we can end the same.

The subject of the poem is someone who seems to be greater than they actually are. These individuals presents themselves as impressive, speak a big game, and wear fine clothes, but in actuality, they’re not that amazing. The subject of the poem gets tired of this behavior and wishes the other person would stop acting like a show-off and just be themselves. Realism is what an artist is looking for, not a never-ending mask.
