Write
A Poem
Write because you don’t want to write
Write because writing is hard
Write because of the effort it takes, not in spite of it
Write so you will be forced to look away from your screen
Write so the thoughts stop running circles in your mind
Write to make the time pass
Write so you might freeze time
Write so that one day you may be famous
Write to make something tangible from your daydreams
Write so you can tell your therapist you have a coping mechanism
Write out all the things you can’t say to your therapist
Write because you like to feel pen glide on paper
Write so you can begin untangling your messy thoughts
Write to distract yourself from the things you cannot control
Write with no plan, with no end goal
Write so you might surprise yourself
Write because your brain needs the exercise
Write so you can be done writing
Write because you will feel better after
Write to calm your leaping heart
Write to slow your panicked lungs
Write so that someone might read it
Write so you can read it
And know that you are not alone.
Thank you for reading! I hope you feel inspired.
