first kiss just like a drug

The year Anno Domini
when cowslips bloomed under moonshine
and Puck on horseback roamed around
just for a glance.
She will return, one of these days
and wake Endymion up,
and this time like the anemone’s
amor, will try to bite him carmine.

I waited for my turn, 13
long years in Azkaban,
and now you’re just hovering around
like the hive over Beyoncé’s Instagram!
A tempest of hormonal rage
will bring him back to his mind.

And then on the fifth day
of the book of Genesis,
the puckered feelings drank
from a lover’s elixir,
the butterflies fluttered, smiling
mid-crime, like nobody’s business.

  • Title from the lyrics of Charlie xcx’s song, Boom Clap, from the novel-based movie of the same name, The Fault in Our Stars.
