One Day

Words run together
and I’m singing na na na,
a song neither of us knows,
in a future memory
where one day,
some day
in the sun
gone by too soon
I sang it to you
with all the drops of blood in my heart
strung quarter notes
and you danced yes
as I lost my mind
for a chance to kiss you dizzy,
whispering words that made you cry
before kissing me back,
words that only exist now
in the secret parts of my head
waiting for that song to play.
