2016

I wanted to say something…

But I said nothing.

Nothing about the gaping wound, Our country’s greatest divide.
Still there like a fresh cut,
Revealing that deep infection
That is spreading again
Through the streets like arteries pumping new blood, pure blood;
But really we’re just recycling what’s old,
That impure, biased blood of a society built on an imbalanced foundation,
With fundamental fractures from deep conditioning of
Brainwashed majorities with privileges they feel entitled to have.
Quiet dissidence = powerful resistance.
We need to change the dialogue.

We need to have a dialogue.
We need to acknowledge our privileges.
We need to speak up.
We need to talk to one another.
We need to embrace one another.
We need to help one another.
We need to tear down the old walls and start over.
We need to “be the change.”
We need it now.
