Suddenly the maple blossoms
give interest to the naked trees
closer, closer, see the green
these poems might decorate
this stark and sorrowed life
if only, only, they’d be seen
without our watching
the trees will be resplendent
finally escaped their winter pale
poems go unread, have failed
