A minute after rain

Everything’s so quiet
gray and beautiful
a minute after the rain has stopped
a minute that, the heart
which had stopped with rain
starts beating again
raindrops dripping from
the gray concrete and white paint
pigeons shaking the rain
off their gray feathers
piercing at the quiet magic
with bewilderment
a minute before spreading their wings
to fly off to another’s ledge
the gray of sky has fallen
and has swept everything
in this little compound
with its chalk of gray.
